3rd January 2023 - Transit Conversion to Camper.

Hi Me.....Another late start again today, Somehow I am gonna have to sort these out as need full days.

Altho 1/2 days progress is going well, there is still a huge amount of things to do to get anywhere near completion!.!..

So let's just see how today pans out.

Went down town to Wilco's & Halfords for a few small things, that made a larger hole in the bank account, that I thought possible!

But we did buy a few things, I was not expecting to buy just yet, but just to look at!!..

Those that have seen in the back of our transit, we used to have Halfords workshop floor tiles.

These made things a lot easier for me whilst in the back, but not are they nice n soft under bare feet, but they are nice n warm as well, even if the transit itself is on the chilly side.

So when it came to replacing them, as we wanted to brighten things up in the back, and we saw these, we thought they may help my mental/depressive states....

So altho we were only looking,to see what was in local shops.
They were on special offer £16.99 each or £25.00 for 2) So we decided to buy 2, as that is probably all we will need, as we will have some of the black ones to reuse, for under the bed, in front of the rear doors, and the rest will be used as secondary insulation glued to the wooden panels etc....

Altho it is too wet n damp to spray paint today.
But we still needed to buy some masking tape so we can get the area masked up that we do not want to spray,

Ready for when we have a nice warm and dry day...........

I have removed several job sticky notes from my desktop over the last few days :) :) I have moved some more towards the middle of the screen, these are jobs to be done this week, if possible.........

Lynne has got the sugar soap out and is washing the front 1/3rd of the back of the transit.

She cannot do anymore, beside she cannot get to the rest all the leaks need to be sorted 1st!.

I must say, what a fantastic job, she did as well, it's a shame it's all gonna be covered up, but it needed doing so the glue will stick properly.

The water was like disgusting! when she had finished! I was amazed at just how dirty the panelling is..

Now we have just gotta wait till it is dry and then we can lightly sand the washed areas and start to add the insulation

But that is likely to be a few days away at least......

Meanwhile I am measuring out were the bathroom will go.

As I have said before, we have not had a chance to look at how the bathroom will come together, so we are taking time now to measure things out and see how it works... ......

Out comes a length of 3x2 Timber for the frame upright that will join to the kitchen unit. We Measure the length - Slightly longer than I need, as difficult to get accurate measurements..........

Not really about the transit, until you think about it!

If it was not for the walking sticks, I would not be able to do what I am doing as quickly or easily.. ..........

But the ferrels are worn out, so at Wilco's we saw some new ferrules and now they are fitted and I can get on safer now.

As before they used to slip all over the place!.

They only cost £1.99 so will be interested to see how long they last..

But for now, it will just make things easier for me, and the specialists won't see me using them.....

Meanwhile Lynne has been busy washing the panels down, in the are we are gonna be working at.

we cannot wash all the insides just yet, until all the leaks are sorted and we have the space to be able to get to them.....

At the moment, we are only interested in the area were the bathroom will be, but Lynne did so much more and it shows......

The water was absolutely filthy by the time Lynne had finished.
Proving that it was a good call to have the insides washed!!.............

Now we are just waiting on the surfaces to dry and we will get them sanded ready for being insulated.!!.............

We finally have the 1st upright cut to length, and it is at this stage we realise just how un-straight every surface is!

What we thought was gonna be and easy wall to build the frame for, is now turning into a much harder project!!

and think, remeasure The bathroom area and try moving things about and remeasuring and more thinking.. .............

we turn the porta loo around until we find the best compromise position that I can use it in easily.

And after laying out some framework timber were the walls will go, we noticed that the bathroom, made things a bit tight for moving into /around this area on the van!................

This is gonna take some serious thought, according to the spirit level the upright is straight!

But it certainly does not look straight??
But then we remember we are not taking the camber of the road where the Transit is Parked.

Do I go with the Spirit level, or what looks straight ??................

We have turned the porta loo 90 degree's and it has saved us about 2" of valuable walking space from the side door, into the rest of the conversion.

But it does mean, we still do not have the room for the planed storage/bench between the bed and side door! But we keep moving things around and in the end, we decide it is time for dinner.
so we call it for the day.................

Unfortunately Lynne goes back to work tomorrow.

Which leaves me to struggle on by myself.

We have discussed whether Lynne can help me after work for 30/45 mins, but as it's 1st day back, she does not know what time she will be home.

So we will see what happens tomorrow.................

As we were eating dinner, there is a knock at the door, with another delivery from Amazon :) :) Fingers crossed I have enough small drill bits now

And the 1st solar panels have arrived, these are for theWindscreen and will be hooked up to the 2nd battery under my seat and 2 more at the front of the van.................

(location for the battery bank(s) has yet to be sorted).

As I am still deciding on what type of batteries to buy.
There are also different physical sizes of batteries
All to be looked at shortly.

In fact after the bathroom is built but before we panel, we will be sorting the electrics and water pipes................
