26th March 2024 - Back bed shelf board.

Hi Folks....... Drove over to Strawbs house this afternoon, To do something we have not done for a long time!.

We are gonna work together, as I could not do the job myself, and Strawbs kindly offered, as we both had a few hours to spare today was the day.

We are discussing and trying different ways to do this job.
We discuss several options, until we whittle it down to just one!.

Using a 1" square baton we line it up square and take measurements of the gap between the baton and the side of the transit.....

This is were we find out the job is not gonna be as easy as we thought.
Not only do we have to deal with the inconsistencies of the side walls, but also the curving frame for the back doors!....!.

We now have plan, with sort of an idea how things should go, but like most times one never knows, until you try something.....

Strawbs has started to marked out the ply board..

WE lay the cardboard, that will become the template for the sides of the transit.....

Strawbs offers up the template, to double check the measurements he has made......

Strawbs then cuts the template and after a test fitting.....

It is time to mark the ply board.....

Thats the ply board cut to shape, but we cannot get it to fit inside teh door frames, So we sit down and discuss our options.....

>

Altho I did not want to cut the board down the center, it soon became obvious that we had no choise!.....

The boards are of equal length, so fingers crossed they should meet in the middle of the door!......

We install the first ply board and use 2 screws to hold it in place......

It very close, but not right, Strawbs nips in the back with a torch and can see were the ply board is touching the sides of the transit.......

It is a very snug fit, but the board is now in place, We screw in screws along the bottom, to hold the boards in place........

And that is were we called it a day, as I had forgotten to bring my Mycena meds with me..

I cannot do any further work on the ply boards, until I sort our suitable timber and shelving.
I also need to get the bed cleared, so that I can work on the ply board, to secure it in place, and start to measuring for the shelves.

Huge thanks to Strawbs for offering to help me get this job done, it has been worrying me on my mind for the last 6 months, when I realised I could not do it on my own!...
